Inshore:

This week, Spanish fishing continues to be pretty good, but it’s been hard with the southwest winds for too many boats to get out.  Most of the action is still in the same areas along the beaches and around the inlets trolling Clarkspoons, Squid Rigs, Mackerel Trees and casting small lures like 1/2oz Jig Fish lures to them.  We weighed some pretty nice Spanish last weekend from the AR reefs caught on Live Bait and Cigar Minnows with Dead Bait Rigs.

There's not been too much action on the King Mackerel this week but again it’s been pretty rough keeping boats in range of the inlets and nearshore. There's a good chance you can take Cigar Minnows with Dead Bait Rigs fishing the Shipping Channel and still pick up some kings along with some Dolphin.

Sheepshead fishing seems like it’s getting better and better with big fish coming to the scales everyday. We've weighed quite a few over the 6lb mark with some over the 10lb mark in the last week.  One good thing about Sheepshead's fishing you can do it when the wind is blowing. There's always a bridge or part of the port wall you can hide behind. Live Fiddler Crabs and Live Sea Urchins are the best bait for Sheepshead action.

Again, with the winds this week not many people have tried the reefs fishing for Flounder but last weekend there was a few caught.  Also, there's been some caught this week drifting behind Shackleford Banks and along the ICW. Outside has been Spro 2oz Bucktails with Berkley Gulp 4” Shrimp and inside has been Live Mud Minnows and Gulp Baits.

I've not heard of any AJ’s this week but like I said earlier it's been kind of choppy to get out far enough for them.  But trust me they'll be around the reefs all summer.  AJ’s and Sharks are just about the two fish you can count on anytime in the summer to give you a workout.

Piers/Surf:

Anglers are still catching limits of Spanish and Bluefish early in the mornings and late afternoons with the morning bite being the best. Got-Cha Plugs and Pole Kat Plugs are working the best off the end of the pier.

For the pier bottom anglers and the surf fishermen, it’s been on the slow side during the day because of the heat but at night the fishing has been a little better with a few Sea Mullets, Spots, Red Drum, Blues and Croakers.  Anglers fishing with Bait Shrimp, Squid, Finger Mullet and Bloodworms seem to be having the best action.

Offshore:

Boats have been stuck closer in this week but anglers did see good Dolphin and Black Fin Tuna action last weekend. Today is nice, so I know of a few boats that went out to look for Dolphin and Billfish.

I've been getting a lot of calls about how close in are the Dolphin, well I know of some that has been caught within 3 miles of the beach. What happens, when they move close in they're all scattered out and it's hard to pattern them as they're here and gone the next.

The best thing we can tell people you can start to look at North West Places out to the Big Ten/Little Ten then work your way out to 14 Buoys on to the 90ft Drop.  I've heard of some decent catches of Dolphin just off the beach over on the East Side of the Cape.  But in all, there is plenty of Dolphin to catch. I talked to one Captain last week and he said there's been more smaller bailer Dolphin in the waters than he has seen in quite awhile.
