Fishing Report 07/18/2013

Inshore / Nearshore:

The Spanish fishing is finely getting like it should be this time of the year. It's been pretty slow for Spanish over the last month but this week the fishing has picked up and the bigger fish have shown up around the artificial reefs. Over the last few days we've weighed in fish over 5lbs with the biggest one over 7lbs.

Anglers are getting action around the inlet and the back side of Shackleford Banks trolling Clarkspoons and Mackerel Trees with planers and trolling weights. For the bigger fish you're going to need Live Bait or Dead Cigar Minnows fished on Dead Bait Rigs. Since the water has cleared up this week anglers have even caught a few Spanish  casting 1/2oz to 3/4oz Jig Fish Lures around the inlet. Along with the Spanish you're going to find Bluefish mixed in.

We're starting to see our first push of King Mackerel in the area with fish showing up around the North West Places and a few have been caught along the Shipping Channel and AR 315. No real big fish yet but we've weighed in a few in the 20lb mark. Dead Bait Rigs with Cigar Minnows work great this time of year for the Snake Kings.

The Sheepshead bite is still very good around all bridges
